Zakopane, the pearl of the Tatras and the refuge of Polish artists Nestled at the foot of the Tatras mountains, Zakopane is much more than a mountain resort: it is a symbol of Polish culture, nature, and soul. From the late 19th century, this small town in southern Małopolska attracted painters, poets, and musicians seeking inspiration in the wild beauty of its alpine landscapes.
Surrounded by forests, carved wooden chalets, and majestic peaks, Zakopane embodies purity, tradition, and artistic freedom.

Through this collection, Artem Legrand pays tribute to Zakopane, as depicted by Stanisław Witkiewicz, Władysław Jarocki, Leon Wyczółkowski, Julian Fałat, Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz (Witkacy), and Ferdynand Ruszczyc. These artists made Zakopane a prominent center of Polish romanticism and mountain painting.

The spirit of the Tatras in your decor

Hanging an art print of Zakopane is like inviting the majesty of the mountains and the warmth of wood into your home. The art prints of Zakopane reflect the snow-capped peaks of the Tatras, the light-filled valleys, and the simple, proud life of the highlanders (Górale).

These works fit perfectly into natural, chalet, chic bohemian, or minimalist modern decor, bringing warmth, strength, and serenity.
A winter watercolor by Fałat, a mountain scene by Witkiewicz, or a view of the Tatras painted by Wyczółkowski will give your walls a calming and authentic atmosphere.

The painting of Zakopane celebrates nature in all its power, but also spirituality and the simplicity of mountain life.

The great painters of Zakopane

Stanisław Witkiewicz (1851–1915) was both a painter, architect, and theorist of the Zakopane style, inspired by Polish mountain art. His works blend realism and symbolism in an atmosphere imbued with faith and nature.
His son, Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz (Witkacy) (1885–1939), explored modernity and psychological expression while remaining attached to Zakopane, his hometown.
Julian Fałat (1853–1929), a renowned Polish watercolorist, painted the mountains and winters of the region with crystalline light.
Leon Wyczółkowski (1852–1936) delicately captured the light and poetry of mountain landscapes.
Władysław Jarocki (1879–1965) depicted the life of the Górale with realism and tenderness.
Finally, Ferdynand Ruszczyc (1870–1936) painted the mountains and clouds of Zakopane as allegories of strength and freedom.

Together, they made Zakopane an artistic myth—a place where nature becomes art and inspiration.

A collection for mountain lovers and those seeking authenticity

The art prints of Zakopane offered by Artem Legrand come from public domain works, carefully reproduced to capture the richness of tones and the original texture of the canvases. Each print evokes the grandeur of the Tatras and the warmth of Polish mountain heritage.
